questions?
we have answers
What is microblading?
Microblading is an artistic tattooing technique that utilizes a hand-held microblade tool that mimics individual hair strokes. Where traditional tattooing uses a machine with multiple needles, microblading artists draw each hair to match the colour and coarseness of your natural eyebrows. This technique creates beautiful, natural looking results.
How long does it last?
Outcomes will vary as everyone’s skin responds uniquely to the treatment. With this in mind, results typically last from 1 to 3 years.
Does it hurt?
Like traditional tattooing, everyone’s pain tolerance is different. To enhance your comfort, we apply a numbing cream to the treatment area prior to, and during the permanent makeup procedure.
How long does it take to heal?
You can return to your daily routine immediately after your appointment! However, avoid getting your brows wet, working out, or using brow makeup for the first 7 days. You may notice some light scabbing as your brows continue to heal. Allow 30 days for your brows to heal completely. Please follow the after care instructions carefully.
How long is the appointment?
Total time for your appointment is 2-3 hours; however, the majority of that time is spent in choosing your colour, and preparing the surface for the procedure (numbing, drawing, and shaping). The actual procedure is only 30-45 minutes.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
Pre-Appointment Restrictions:
The following restrictions are to ensure your skin is in the best possible condition for an amazing procedure. Please read carefully:
-
Please do not work out on the day of the appointment as your body heat will expand your pores.
-
Avoid prolonged exposure to sunlight, and sunburns 3 days before your procedure. Skin should not be in the process of healing itself.
-
Do NOT drink coffee or anything with caffeine the day of the procedure.
-
Do NOT take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen, omega-3, unless medically necessary; 48-72 hours prior to the procedure. (Tylenol or Acetaminophen is OK!)
-
Do NOT drink alcohol 24 hours before the procedure.
-
The following treatments should be avoided within FOUR weeks of your procedure:
-
Botox or other fillers
-
Chemical Peels
-
Laser treatments.
-
Retinol
-
-
Clients who have taken or are taking Isotretinoin must wait a minimum 6 months after taking this medication to receive treatment.
If you have any questions or require clarification please do not hesitate to call.
What if I have Botox® injections and/or fillers?
We recommend you receive your microblading treatment first and/or ask your treatment provider for clearance.
Can Microblading hide or cover my scars?
Yes! However, I recommend you submit a photo of your eyebrows in advance of your appointment without make-up so I can confirm that you are a candidate for microblading.
Are you able to touch up or fix another artist’s work?
If you are not satisfied with the results of another artist’s work, or require a touch up, you will need to book in for a full treatment with me. This will allow adequate time for me to assess and correct your brows.
Does Microblading work on different skin types and colours?
Absolutely! However, if you have extremely oily skin, your finished brow colouring may fade into a more powdery finish over time. Normal-combination and dry skin types often yield a better result.
Will my brows turn a different colour after they fade?
I work with high quality organic ink pigments that stay true to their color. Over time, the permanent cosmetic fades to a lighter shade of brown.
Can I get Microblading/ Permanent Makeup while pregnant or breastfeeding?
We do not recommend microblading or permanent makeup procedures while pregnant or breastfeeding.
Are you fully licensed and insured?
Yes, at Ink Brow Bar, we are fully licensed and insured. This includes my Permanent Cosmetics Technician license, Vancouver Health Inspection license, and the City of Vancouver Business license. We carry commercial general liability insurance, including bodily injury and personal injury. In addition we have been trained on bloodborne pathogens.
how should i prep my lips for lip blush?
PREPARATION:
Client should plan to avoid prolonged sun exposure for 30 days after their scheduled
appointment. To perform cosmetic tattoo procedures on the lips, the skin of your lips must be hydrated and moisturized on the day of your appointment. We ask all clients to begin a daily lip regiment 5 days before you are scheduled to come in to prepare the lips.
5 DAY REGIMENT:
• Lip balm like Aquaphor or Lip Mask (Laneige, sold at Sephora) should be applied through out the day.
• After showering when lips are soft and supple, gently scrub your lips, especially the middle, and apply a layer of lip balm. You can make a homemade scrub by mixing brown sugar, honey and olive oil in the same proportions.
PAIN PREPARATION:
Through the sensation of micro-pigmentation is minimal, all clients will respond to pain differently. To alleviate possible discomfort, a strong topical anesthetic will be applied before and during the procedure. Please do not take any blood thinners such as Ibuprofen and Aspirin 24hrs before. Tylenol can be taken 30 minutes before your treatment without any contraindications.
COLD SORES:
For clients with ANY history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes, please contact your physician and request a prescription for Zovirax or Valtrex. Taking preventative medication is recommend on the day of and for 4 consecutive days as a potential outbreak can occur as the skin’s natural reaction to the procedure. If you experience frequent outbreaks, please note that Lip Blush can only be done after 4 weeks from your most recent outbreak. All other questions or concerns regarding medications and outbreaks should be discussed with your healthcare physician.
PLEASE NOTE:
5 days before, during, and 5 days after your menstrual cycle you will be more sensitive and experience more discomfort and bleeding during the procedure. You are also more likely to experience premature colour loss because of this. Please try to avoid booking your Lip Blush
appointment during those days.

What are the lip blush aftercare instructions?
THE FIRST TWO DAYS:
The treated areas should be cleaned 3 times a day, morning, afternoon and evening. No cleansers can be used for any reason. A very thin layer of Vitamin A &D ointment should be applied consistently throughout the day to the treated area using a fresh Q-Tip (do not use mineral oil or Vaseline.) Applying too much ointment can lead to fading, so a thin layer goes a long way. This will keep the area moist and accelerate healing. Do not let the area dry out and crack, keep it moist at all times. Do not press or rub when applying ointment.
• Apply an extra heavy coat of ointment to the treated area only before bathing, washing of adjacent area, and immediately upon rising in the morning. When brushing teeth for the first five days, use a minimal amount of toothpaste. Toothpaste and mouthwash are considered “soap” and will remove the lip color.
Clients should avoid prolonged outdoor sun exposure for the first 30 days. Any prologue sun exposure will lead to a premature loss or colour or can cause a change in colour of fresh pigment
FOR THE FIRST 7 DAYS:
• Do not touch, bite, lick, pick, peel, tamper, scratch, rub, injure, or remove the peeling in any way; if you do, you will experience a loss of colour.
• Do not let any water, lotion, soap, or makeup touch your lips.
• Use a straw when drinking liquids.
• Avoid biting into foods that might cause friction to the lips; no spicy or super-hot food and drink.
• No foreign body fluids.
• No physical activity that causes extreme sweating.
• Do not use any lipstick or cosmetics on or near the treated area.
FOR THE FIRST 14 DAYS:
• No hot sauna, swimming, pool, hot bath/shower, sun tanning, tanning salon, Vaseline, Neosporin, or any petroleum-based products, no massage, facials, waxing, threading, laser, or skin treatment.
• Do not expose the area to dirty or unsanitary conditions. Try to avoid being in dusty places.
FOR THE FIRST 30 DAYS:
• Do not use products containing alcohol, tonics, or tonics based on lactose and fruit acids, retinol acids, glycolic acids in the treated areas.
What is normal?
• Mild swelling, itching, light scabbing, light brushing and dry tightness.
• Too dark and slightly uneven appearance. After 2-7 days the darkness will fade, and once any swelling dissipates, unevenness usually disappears. Adjustments will be made during the touch-up appointment.
• Colour change or colour loss as the procedure area heals, the colour will lighten and sometimes seem to disappear in places. This can be addressed during the touch up appointment, which is why touch up appointments are necessary. The procedure area has to heal completely before we can address any concerns.
• Healing takes about 6 -8 weeks.
• A touch up may be needed 6 months to 1 year after the first touch up procedure depending on your skin, medications, and sun exposure. We recommend the first touch up 2 months after the first session, then every 6 months to 1 year to keep your tattoos looking fresh and beautiful!
CAUTION
If the skin around the tattooed area breaks into a heat rash, or small pimples, this is usually a reaction to the numbing solution and should go away on its own in a couple of weeks. Please do not pick at it! Call immediately if this occurs so a technician can make a note of the reaction and follow up to ensure this is not a
more serious situation!
